The Opportunity

insitro is changing the way that drugs are discovered and developed for patients by applying a machine learning-driven approach that leverages insights derived from a combination of external human cohort data and high-quality molecular data generated in-house. To enable and execute on this vision, we require access to capabilities and vast and / or deep datasets related to human health. We need to be nimble, thoughtful, and creative in prioritizing and accessing them, as well as in how to best leverage the insights coming off of our platform to deliver impactful medicines to patients.


In this role, you will partner with the corporate development team and scientific colleagues to help track and evaluate the evolving landscape of data and technologies relevant to the application of machine learning for drug discovery and development. You will contribute to insitro’s drug development strategy, partnering with internal stakeholders to landscape, prioritize, and pursue in-licensing opportunities motivated by novel insights emerging from the insitro platform. You will help ensure the success of our existing partnered programs by assisting with Alliance Management. You will help maximize the impact of insitro’s platform and insights by supporting the identification, structuring, and execution of additional high-leverage partnerships.


Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Supporting landscaping and partnering efforts to gain access to new data / capabilities
  • Landscaping, diligencing, and supporting potential in-licensing transactions
  • Working with Alliance Management to manage existing partnerships, with the opportunity to own alliances over time
  • Working closely with BD to support transactions with pharma and biotech partners, including through financial modeling
  • Providing ongoing support for corporate strategy and strategic finance efforts
  • Supporting investor relations and communications efforts
  • Assisting with generation of internal and external corporate materials

About You

  • M.D. or PhD in biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, computational biology, genetics / genomics, pharmacology, or equivalent experience in the biopharma industry
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in banking, management consulting, venture capital, private equity, or corporate development focused on the biopharma industry
  • Familiarity with business development and licensing transactions for pharmaceutical or biotech companies, including due diligence, valuation, and financial considerations
  • Exposure to asset in-licensing (screening and deal prosecution)
  • Deep understanding of finance and experience with financial modeling and valuation in the biopharma industry
  • Experience in managing complex projects that involve multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds and job functions
  • A bias to action and ability to operate effectively under ambiguous, rapidly changing circumstances
  • Passion for building something different and desire to make a difference in the world


Nice to Have

  • Exposure to the research and early development stages of the pharmaceutical value chain, spanning basic discovery, drug development, and IND-enabling studies
  • Exposure to computational methods that are relevant to drug design and development
  • Experience working under the resource and time constraints of an early stage startup
